Prince Harry has shared a surprisingly personal story about his childhood. It revealed that growing up as a royal did not protect him from being teased at school.
During a recent podcast appearance, the Duke of Sussex looked back at the nicknames he endured because of his famous red hair. Besides, he also joked about passing the same trait on to his children with Meghan Markle.
Prince Harry Recalls His School Days Experiences

Harry opened up about the experience during a recent appearance on rugby player Joe Marler’s Will See You Now podcast. When Marler asked him what people most often get wrong about him, Harry answered, “That I’m not ginger.”

The Duke then joked that his hair is not actually bright red, describing it as being closer to “sunset orange” or auburn. As Marler and the podcast team laughed, Harry shared that his hair color made him a target in school.
“I got bullied a lot at school. I was called ‘Carrot Top,’” Harry said. Despite the difficult memory, the conversation stayed light-hearted. Harry even joked that he would “need therapy” after talking about those childhood experiences.
Later in the podcast, Harry spoke about becoming a father and admitted he once believed his famous red hair would not be passed down to his children because of Meghan Markle’s genes.
“I genuinely thought that, should this go the distance and we have kids. There’s no way the ginger gene will stand up to my wife’s genes. But I was wrong,” Harry said.
Prince Harry Has Been Making Headlines Beyond The Podcast

Harry’s funny stories about his childhood and family life are not the only reason he has been in the spotlight this week. Reports have also claimed that he made an important promise to King Charles following their reported private reunion.
