The Netflix Series documenting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s life has been a hit ever since its release. It was revealed by Netflix as the second most-watched show so far. In the three episodes that have been out, we get to see a lot of snippets from the couple’s life, including Harry’s time in the military.
In one instance, Harry reveals his life in the military. He says that he went to war “twice” in his decade-long-stint and which also burst the bubble of his life in the royal family. Let’s see what else is shown about the Prince’s military life in the show.

Why Did Prince Harry Join The War Twice?
In the third episode of the show, Harry reveals that he joined the military and went to war twice. The Duke of Sussex says that his service in Afghanistan made him “grow up pretty hard.” In 2007 and again in 2012, Harry says to have served two tours in Afghanistan. He was secretly deployed to Afghanistan in 2007.
During that time, he helped fight the Taliban insurgents as a forward air controller. Although after 10 weeks he had to return as the news of his being there was released by a media outlet. He then returned in 2012 again as an Apache Helicopter pilot. He was in Afghanistan for around 20 weeks.

What Is Harry’s Take On The Military Life?
In the episode of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary where he talks about his military life, the royal says that he found a “second family” in the lifelong friends that he made during that time. As mentioned in PEOPLE, Harry also credits his mother, Princess Diana, for being an inspiration for him.
Meghan also talks about how happy Harry becomes to be back on the military base. “I’m watching my husband over there- you see how much joy it brings him to be back on a base, and he immediately goes back into military banter,” says the Duchess. Harry and Meghan are also shown visiting McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, in a different clip.
