Carrie Underwood had her full circle moment. She started her career on ‘American Idol‘ as a contestant 20 years back and even won the show. Since then Carrie has been reaching great heights in her career which includes winning Academy Awards, Grammys, and more.
Carrie won the show in 2005 and she’s returning to ‘American Idol‘ but this time as a judge. The singer is replacing Katy Perry on the show which will be aired in 2025.
Carrie Underwood Is Going To Replace Katy Perry On ‘American Idol‘
The Grammy winner and country music singer, Carrie Underwood is all set to rejoin her roots on ‘American Idol’ as the newest panel member as announced by the network. The ‘Before He Cheats‘ singer will be helping the young musician from the other side now with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
The eight-time Grammy winner, announced the information on her social media through a post: “I went from nobody knowing my name to tens of millions of people watching the show. “I’m proud of everything that I was able to accomplish on this show and I’m so proud of everything that I’ve accomplished since.”
The ‘American Idol‘ season 4 winner will take the seat left by former judge Katy Perry who announced her departure in February. She broke the news on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘ She noted that she wants to focus on her music career more. She said, “I love ‘Idol’ so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I need to go out and feel that pulse of my beat.”
The president of Disney Television group also welcomes Carrie on the board. He wrote, “This is a full-circle moment both for the show and for audiences at home who have been tuning in for over two decades. Welcome home, Carrie.”

Katy Perry Received Criticism For Her Behaviour On The Show
Katy Perry joined the show back in 2018 and served as a judge for seven seasons alongside Richie and Bryan. But she was always pointed out for one thing or the other.
The singer faced multiple criticisms for her behavior on the show including that she mom-shamed a contestant, and even flirted with a contestant on air. Last year she also made headlines for her emotional tirade against gun violence in America after a contestant revealed that she has survived a gun shooting.
But Katy Perry has always been optimistic about her return to the show. She said in February that she is always open to returning to the ‘American Idol‘ even after being focused on her career.
The show will return with its 23 seasons next spring. Host Ryan Seacrest will be joining as the host yet again.
