‘The Idol’ has left the TV viewing audience aghast after the terrible first season of the series. Even before it premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, it caught the public’s ire. The production and crew team talked about the behind-the-scenes of the show after Amy Seimetz exited and Sam Levinson took over. But the audience did not welcome Sam and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye’s vision, which was termed borderline p****graphic.
‘The Idol’ is the story of a pop star, Jocelyn, whose stardom diminishes due to her sudden breakdown. She and her team decided to revamp her career. While in the process, she meets Abel’s character Tedros, a mystic LA club owner and cult leader. He helps her tap into her potential through a highly sexualized, painful process. The viewers highly criticized the singer’s fetishized gaze toward Jocelyn and his overall look. But the star has come forward to be thankful for the process of the series.
Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye Promises To Push The Vision Despite The Bumpy Journey
The finale of ‘The Idol’ took place this Sunday, concluding the highly controversial series that debuted on HBO on June 4, 2023. The finale was one of the most hated episodes of all due to the lack of giving any arc to the characters and introducing a twist. Jocelyn knew all along all the games that Tedros was playing, but she introduced him as her partner on the stage during her concert.
After the last episode of ‘The Idol,’ Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye extended gratitude towards the journey of the show. He wrote on his Instagram, “The finale. grateful to share this moment with you all as the season comes to an end. Continue to push the vision no matter how bumpy the journey.” He concluded the post with the episode title, “Jocelyn Forever 🎭.”

She said, “I think a lot of the audience will watch maybe the first few episodes and think that this guy is taking advantage of her. By the end, he realizes that she knows exactly what he’s doing, and she knows exactly what she’s doing.”
Talking about her character, she said, “Jocelyn is a very calculated and strategic person. She knows exactly what she wants, and she’ll stop at nothing to get it. Tedros was her muse, and she got what she needed out of him.”
