    In September 2022, after holding the hosting responsibilities for seven years, Trevor Noah announced his exit. During one of his episodes on ‘The Daily Show’, he said, “It’s been absolutely amazing, it’s something I never expected. I found myself thinking about the time–everything we’ve gone through, the Trump presidency, the pandemic, the journey of…more pandemic. And I realized that after seven years, my time is up”.

    The host rose to fame by hosting various awards gigs and featuring on South African television, and finally, in 2015, he started his journey hosting ‘The Daily Show’. He said, “I’ve loved hosting the show, it’s been one of my greatest challenges, it’s been one of my greatest joys”. The reason he was quitting the show was to get back on the road again and reinvigorate his stand-up career which gave him all the accolades, love, and a show.

    Trevor said, “I spent two years in my apartment, not on the road, standup was done, and when I got back out there again, I realized there was another part of my life that I wanted to carry on exploring. I miss learning other languages, I miss going to other countries and putting on shows”.

    When Noah started hosting the show, he bagged $5 million to $8million per season. According to Style Caster, after the renewal of his deal in 2017, he started earning $16 million per season. This means he earned approximately $44k per episode.

    It is impossible to fill the void after Trevor leaves the show. One of the executive producers at Paramount, Chris McCarthy, said that the sudden departure shocked the executives as well. A spokesperson for Paramount gave an update about who will man the desk.

    The spokesperson said, “In time, we will turn to the next chapter of The Daily Show and all of our incredible correspondents will be at the top of that list. Until then, we are focused on celebrating Trevor and thanking him for his many contributions”. Now, the show will be reprised for a new season after the Christmas break on January 17th, 2023.
