How And In Which ‘The Walking Dead’ Episode Does Lori Die?
Lori’s death was one of the darkest times of ‘The Walking Dead‘. In episode four of season three, ‘The Killer Within‘, Lori was all geared up to give birth. After being split up from Rick and the others in season 3, the immense fear made Lori go into labor forcing Maggie Greene and Carl to take her to a nearby boiler for shelter. Maggie bravely assisted in the C-section, but it was the labor that led to Lori’s death. Preventing his mother from turning into a walker or a zombie, Carl tearfully shoots her, presenting his new baby sister to Rick.
Lori was strong, and selfless, and fought till her last breath, she was a warrior. Believing, her husband was dead, she moved on with Shane Walsh, her husband’s partner in duty. Shane was her only means of survival and cure for her loneliness. However, Rick’s unexpected return tore Lori between him and Shane. As happy as she was to see her husband, that much guilt consumed her. As the third season began, Rick starts to shun her, something that terribly pained her. However, Rick was devastated when he discovered that she died during childbirth. Lori showed herself to be a very selfless person when she faced her final moments of life, choosing baby Judith’s life over her own, which she sacrificed with barely a second thought.

Was Lori Eaten by a Bloated Walker?
Lori’s death was sad enough, but the showrunners had to make it dark. When Rick entered the boiler room, he followed a trail of blood which lead him to an extremely bloated walker. There was speculation that the walker dragged Lori’s body before indulging in its entirety. Few keen-eye viewers even noticed strands of Lori’s hair around the walker’s mouth. With no trace of Lori’s body, Rick killed the walker and stabbed it in its stomach to search for pieces of Lori’s corpse. Truly horrific and extremely disturbing! He didn’t allow himself to fully investigate since he was overcome with emotion.
In an interview with Daily Deed, Greg Nicotero, the special make-up effects supervisor, commented on Lori’s death saying, “The idea is supposed to be that the walker has sort of dragged her around the corner of that boiler room. There’s actually a blood trail that continues past the walker and goes around the corner. Some of the little touches we added were there were bits of hair in his mouth and hair in his hand when it reaches up toward Rick. And it was just one of those things that we really wanted to show that this thing had feasted on her, as horrible as it is“.
