‘Game of Thrones‘ has gone down in history as one of the most successful shows ever made. Though the final season of the show disappointed a few of its fans, they are still rooting for their favorite characters. The show may have concluded in 2019, but stories of Westeros continue to expand with ‘House of the Dragon’, set 200 years before the main show’s timeline.
As the ‘Game of Thrones‘ franchise is expanding in different directions, rumors swirled about a potential spin-off centered around one of the most loved characters on the show, Jon Snow. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss recently addressed the speculation and revealed whether or not they plan any such spin-off.
Is Jon Snow Coming Back To Our Screens?
‘Game of Thrones‘ makers David Benioff and Dan Weiss were talking to The Hollywood Reporter, when Weiss said he would be delighted to work again with the beloved characters from ‘Game of Thrones’.
“It would be so great; nothing would make us happier than to work with our people from that show,” Weiss said. “But there are a lot of other ways to make that happen that are fresh and exciting for everyone involved,” he added.
Weiss also put a bit of humor into the situation, pointing out the practical challenges of a Jon Snow spin-off. “Unless [Kit Harington] has been doing a lot of working out, that’s a really heavy cloak for a guy in his 40s to carry around – it’s like 60 pounds,” Weiss joked.
He then playfully suggested an idea for the possible spin-off, when the characters are all in their 80s, with Harington approaching retirement. “Maybe when we’re 80 and Kit’s approaching retirement, he can throw that cloak on again with real grey in his beard,” he said.

‘Game Of Thrones’ Showmakers Reveal A Potential ‘Star Wars’ Project In The Making
While a Jon Snow spin-off might still be a distant dream, Benioff and Weiss gave their fans some hope by talking about another shelved project – a proposed ‘Star Wars‘ film. The duo said they had envisioned exploring the origins of the Jedi Order, the first lightsaber, and the backstory of The First Jedi.
However, their plans were thwarted when Rian Johnson’s film ‘The Last Jedi‘ hit theaters and clashed with the title they had in mind. “We wanted to do The First Jedi. Basically how the Jedi Order came to be, why it came to be, the first lightsaber… And we were annoyed as hell when [Rian Johnson] called his movie The Last Jedi. He completely destroyed the obvious title for what we were working on,” Benioff said
Meanwhile, ‘Game of Thrones’ fans have other things to look forward to, including ‘House of Dragons‘ along with some other potentially more exciting projects based on mythical writings by George RR Martin.
