Fans had high hopes from the finale of ‘Game Of Thrones‘ but the results weren’t exactly over the moon. Being the most celebrated show with the record of most Emmy wins, the finale failed to capture the hearts of the ardent viewers, and the heavy backlash continues despite the show airing its last episode in 2019.
Kit Harington, who portrayed Jon Snow in the show admitted that mistakes were made. He has always been tight-lipped about his views on the conclusion, but looking back, he believes it might have been rushed due to the exhaustion of the ‘Game Of Thrones‘ team.
Kit Harington Shares His Views On Final ‘Game Of Thrones’ Episode For The First Time
Kit Harington gave an interview to British GQ magazine and shared his opinion on the backlash ‘Game Of Thrones’ has received over the years. He admitted, “I think if there was any fault with the end of Thrones, is that we were all so f**king tired, we couldn’t have gone on longer. And so I understand some people thought it was rushed and I might agree with them. But I’m not sure there was any alternative.”
Harington continued, “I look at pictures of me in that final season and I look exhausted. I look spent. I didn’t have another season in me.”
Does Kit blame the fans for their criticism? He noted, “Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think there were mistakes made, story-wise, towards the end maybe. I think there were some interesting choices that didn’t quite work.”

‘Game Of Thrones’ Crew Members Had Various Theories On How The Show Should Have Ended
‘Game Of Thrones‘ was revered by both critics and the audience. However, the high expectations weren’t met by the creators in the end. The final storyline had issues and the cast members weren’t blind to the divisive finale. Maisie Williams, who played Arya Stark, previously mentioned that she “couldn’t be happier” by the way her character’s arc was shown but later she said that “it definitely fell off the end”.
Meanwhile, Sophie Turner defended the concluding season as she felt fans have been “disrespectful” towards the cast members and the makers. Tywin Lannister actor Charles Dance had a contrasting view to that of Sophie because he was dissatisfied with how the show ended and he even signed a petition to rewrite and reshoot the show circulated by fans.
There was also a spin-off series featuring Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow in progress, however, Kit shared that the makers went back and forth with the development of the series but nothing could excite them and later the series was shelved.
Kit Harington has also mentioned that he’s not interested in heroic roles anymore as he wants to move towards the antagonistic side on screen.
