In a twist that writes itself, real life has finally caught up with television fiction. Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould, who played the bickering Dunphy siblings Alex and Luke on ‘Modern Family‘ for 11 seasons, are now real-life roommates.
Winter, 28, recently revealed that she moved into a house with Gould, 27, in Los Angeles. The news comes just days after she announced that she had split from her longtime boyfriend, Luke Benward, with whom she had been living in Nashville since 2022.

While speaking to People Magazine, Winter said, “It’s funny because I spend more time out here now and I rent a house with Nolan.” She added, “People ask me about a Modern Family reboot, but Nolan and I are real roommates now. So it’s like we’re having our own little Modern Family reboot, but it’s just the two of us living together. So I see him every day.”

Winter and Gould were just 11 and 10 when they first met on the show, which ran from 2009 to 2020. Even though their characters drove each other wild, the two actors stayed close after the show ended. In an interview a year ago, Winter said, “I’m extremely close to Nolan. He plays my little brother, and he and I are still best friends.”
Moving in with Gould seems to be helping Winter heal after her public breakup. Still, she made it clear that she and Benward are on good terms. She wrote on social media, “We are still best friends, a great human being, and a great pup coparent.” They share custody of their four rescue dogs.

A TV reboot might not be happening, but Winter joked that their real life together is already funny enough for a show. She said they spend nights watching trashy reality TV like ‘Temptation Island‘. “I’m not gonna lie, when we sit there at night, and we watch, like, Temptation Island together, it’s pretty hilarious,” Winter said. “So we have thought about it. We’re just like, ‘People would find this really funny.’”

They join a long list of former co-stars who stayed friends after a show ended. Winter has said the whole ‘Modern Family’ cast, including Julie Bowen, Sofía Vergara, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, are still close. She called them “a real family,” but for now, the Dunphy household is just two nostalgic millennials splitting the rent in Los Angeles.
