“That Is Happily Put to Rest”: Jeremy Strong Says Kendall Roy Came To A Terminal Point In ‘Succession’ So He Isn’t Keen On Another Season

‘Succession’ is a satirical comedy series that revolves around the Roy family which owns the global media and entertainment conglomerate Waystar RoyCo. The show is reprising for another season after 4 successful seasons, but it seems Jeremy Strong shall not come back this time.

Jeremy Strong played the role of Kendall Roy in ‘Succession‘ and during an interview, he said that he doesn’t want to reprise his role as some things should be happily put to rest.

The Chances Of Jeremy Strong Reprising His Role In ‘Succession’ Are Low

Jeremy Strong while talking with People, addressed his possibilities of not reprising his HBO role of Kendall Roy again. The series had its final in May 2023. Considering that he said, “I’m sure there’s a desire for more [Succession]. I would really pass that buck to [creator] Jesse Armstrong.”

He continued, “But I think in terms of the role that I played, he came to his terminal point. So for me, that’s something that is very happily put to rest.”

The following statement was made at the 2024 Tony Awards ‘Meet the Nominees junket’, as he was nominated for best actor in a play by Dr. Thomas Stockman in ‘An Enemy of the People‘.

He played the role of Kendall Roy in ‘Succession‘, son of patriarch Logan Roy, who competed with his siblings to take over families business. Moreover, Jeremy won an Emmy Award in 2020 for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series.

Jeremy Reflects On Kendall Roy’s Fate In The Series Finale

During his acceptance speech, Jeremy talked about his role as Kendall in ‘Succession’. He said, “I read a poem by [American poet] Stephen Dunn that said, ‘All I ever wanted was a book so good I’ll be finishing it for the rest of my life.’ This job was that, for me.”

Kendall also found during the series finale that he won’t become the CEO of Waystar Royco. He continued, “I feel like if I don’t get to do this, I might — I might — die,” Kendall exclaimed before learning who would take over the role. “I’m the eldest boy! I’m the eldest boy!”
