‘Succession’ Season 4: Who Gives The Eulogy At Logan Roy’s Funeral?’

It is time for the Roy siblings to bury their father on ‘Succession.’ As their father finally rests in his death, the world outside burns to the ground with Jared Mencken as the President of the United States of America. But Siobhan pulls off an unprecedented phoenix act between America’s literal and metaphorical death.

Roman, who looked so sure of himself, breaks down at the funeral. But his bad day gets worse when his candidacy for Mencken turns out to be a thorn in his side. With ‘Succession’ heading to its penultimate chapter, it remains to be seen who, out of Kendall, Roman, and Siobhan, will be last person standing in the ruins of the Roy empire.

Ewan, Logan’s brother, speaks at his brother’s funeral.

The church bells toll for the not-so-dearly departed Logan Roy on ‘Succession.’ Outside, the protestors cause a rumble in the gridlocked streets of New York. After declaring Jared Mencken President-elect, the Roys prepare for Logan’s funeral. Roman decides to deliver the eulogy, occasionally improvising while practicing. At the funeral, the who’s who of America, including close family, associates, and former wives, appear. Everyone attends the funeral but Tom, who is dealing with the fallout of the electoral result.

Despite resistance, Logan’s estranged brother, Ewan (in an astounding oratory performance from James Cromwell), decides to speak at his brother’s funeral. He shames the behavior of the Roy kids, now allowing him to speak for fear of the company’s stock plummeting. As expected, Ewan’s words about Logan’s upbringing and ruthlessness are introspective but cut deep. This man is wrestling with the love and indignation he feels simultaneously for a man nobody could ever understand. When it is Roman’s turn, he falls apart, forcing Kendall to take over. He’s enigmatic, says the right things, and doesn’t let it get too sad.

Siobhan finally tells her siblings about her pregnancy, while Kendall is upset by his family not attending the funeral. Lukas Matsson also shows up at the funeral. Siobhan suggests he makes false subscription numbers from India public knowledge. She also puts in name in the hat for being Matsson’s “American CEO” if she can safely foster the GoJo deal through Mencken. They reach out to him, hoping to sway him with Mattson at his most unfiltered self.

After visiting his father’s memorial, Kendall enlists Roman and Hugo in his final push to ensure the GoJo deal fails. But before the dream team pushes for the ultimate battle of ‘Succession,’ Mencken has a change of heart. It looks like Matsson and Siobhan got what they wanted. This angers and upsets Roman, who had a personal relationship with Mencken. Hurt by having two failures in a row, he heads out to the streets of New York City. Walking into a crowd of angry protesters, he ends up getting injured.
