‘Happy Valley’ Season 3
‘Happy Valley‘ returned with season 3 this year, and its viewership climbed as high as it can get. With 100% viewership on Rotten Tomatoes, ‘Happy Valley’ continued to captivate the audience with its mystery element. The lead role of the show, played by Sarah Lancashire, gave the audience a tumultuous ride with a final mystery. Directed by Fergus O’Brien, Pat Harkins, and Sally Wainwright, the show’s new season was full of highs and lows – perhaps the reason why it was received so well.
‘A Small Light’
On number 2 is a limited series, ‘A Small Light‘. Starring Bel Powley, the show revolves around a tragedy and how the lead survives it with sensitive heroism. Rooted in German history, the show tells a courageous tale of a young, carefree secretary, who agrees to hide Otto Frank and his family from the Nazis. The show is directed by Tony Phelan, Joan Rater, Susanna Fogel, and Avi Nir. It also bagged a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
‘Reservation Dogs’ Season 3
The third season of ‘Reservation Dogs‘ got the audience to dive deeper into the world of its lead characters and their dark past. The show is shot in 1970s art-horror film style and encompasses boarding-school scenes that narrate the story of a terrifying childhood torment of one of its characters. Directed by Tazbah Rose Chavez, Danis Goulet, Sterlin Harjo, and Taika Waititi, the final season of ‘Reservation Dogs‘ has definitely been a treat for the audience with a 100% rating. The stellar cast led by D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Devery Jacobs has given a perfect ending to the show.
‘Foundation’ Season 2
Season 2 of ‘Foundation‘ made it to the fourth position of the most loved shows released this year. Based on a sci-fi story staged in Isaac Asimov’s pioneering galactic saga, the show has captivated the audience better in its second season as compared to the first one. Though it requires its audience to be patient, the show has won hearts. Its makers recently revealed that there will be a season 3 as well. Directors Robyn Asimov, David S. ‘Drops of God’
‘Drops of God‘, a rather juvenile entry to the list, has made it to the fifth position on the list. Directed by Jean-Luc Berlot, Léonard Glowinski, Anne Thomopoulos, and Sam Kozhaya, the show tells a story of cutthroat competition between the lead characters, with hints of supreme yet sophisticated intelligence. The cast includes Fleur Geffrier, Tomohisa Yamashita, and Stanley Weber, who bring the rivalry and sophistication in the show to life perfectly well.
‘Cunk on Earth’
‘Cunk on Earth‘ is the top comedy show that the audience has liked enough for it to be on the list. Grabbing the 6th position on Rotten Tomatoes, the show, led by Diane Morgan, gives a perfect dose of dopiness and ingenious comedic timing to its viewers. Director Christian Watt has seemingly done a great job at humorizing anthropological documentaries through this show. Morgan, as the performer, also does full justice to the satire she presents with a lace of brilliance to it.
‘Primo’
Season 1 of ‘Primo’ made it to the seventh position on the list. Created by Shea Serrano, the show revolves around the life of 16-year-old Rafa Gonzales, played by Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, and how he is raised by his mother played by Christina Vidal, and five uncles. Based in San Antonio, the show is a coming-of-age comedy inspired by Shea Serrano’s life. Also new to the race, the show seems to have done pretty well for itself as it has received a commendable audience response.
‘The Other Two’ Season 3
Season 3 of ‘The Other Two’ made it to the eighth position with the elder Dubek siblings seemingly winning the viewers’ hearts. The comedy show, directed by Chris Kelly, Sarah Schneider, Lorne Michaels, and Andrew Singer, came with its third and last season in June this year. Though the characters on the show have entered a mature character arc, the comedy seemingly persists. Despite some internal conflict amongst the show’s crew, ‘The Other Two’ has made it to the list and is therefore seemingly blooming.
‘Deadloch’ Season 2
The crime-comedy series ‘Deadloch’ made it to the ninth position on the list. A unique blend of mystery and comedy, ‘Deadloch’ is named after a hamlet where the story is based. Two female detectives who have contrasting characters are thrown together to solve the murder of a local man in the sleepy seaside hamlet, as the mystery laced with ample comedy unfolds. Directed by Kate McCartney, Kate McLennan, Kevin Whyte, and Ben Chessell, the show seems to have captivated the audience with actors Kate Box and Madeleine Sami in the lead cast.
‘For All Mankind’ Season 4
Last but not least, the fourth season of ‘For All Mankind’ has made it to the tenth position as per Rotten Tomatoes. Based on revisionist history, the show takes up a “what if” approach in a world where the global space race never ended. Director Ronald D Moore, Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Maril Davis, have seemingly done a commendable job with actors Joel Kinnaman and Wrenn Schmidt as the lead cast – which has clearly reflected in the audience response.
As we are all set to welcome the new year with the holiday season approaching, this list of top shows should suffice for viewers willing to binge-watch some good content.
