Fans of Stephen King and the horror genre have something exciting to look forward to. HBO has given a thumbs up to the ‘IT‘ prequel series ‘Welcome To Derry.’ The prequel will be a detailed exploration of Stephen King’s ‘IT‘ universe. Currently titled ‘Welcome To Derry,’ the series will begin filming soon.
‘Welcome To Derry‘ will go beyond the established ‘IT‘ universe of the Andy Muschietti-directed movies. The prequel series will likely dive into more stories about Pennyworth the Clown’s reign of terror and how the town of Derry is affected by it. There’s more information on the plot, cast, and release date. Keep reading to find out.

‘Welcome To Derry’ Plot
‘Welcome To Derry’ will be a prequel series going beyond the ‘IT‘ (2017) and ‘IT Chapter 2‘ (2019). Based on the Stephen King novel, these movies explored the group of steady friends taking on the monstrous clown Pennywise. The sequel, which takes place after 27 years, brings the group back to Derry to fight Pennywise again.
The plot details are unknown for now. We speculate that the series could look into the stories of the abducted children of Derry. The connective theme of both ‘IT‘ movies is the increasing number of disappearing children. A child’s abduction sets off the plot in the 2017 movie. It won’t be a stretch to assume that the prequel looks into other unspoken horrors of Derry. The concept of a prequel may also give us a glimpse into the origin story of Pennywise.
