The post-apocalyptic drama will see the ‘Booksmart’ and ‘Dopesick’ actress in a major fan-favorite character from the video games. Expectations are high as the 27-year-old actress comes in at the crucial time of the narrative.
In the video games, her character goes on a vengeful quest after a loved one dies. Those familiar with the games know how Dever’s character is going to change the trajectory of Ellie’s (Bella Ramsey) character. The drama mostly takes place between Joel and Ellie, so it will be nice to see the inclusion of another character in the mix.

Kaitlyn Dever Cast As Abby In ‘The Last Of Us’
‘The Last Of Us’ has found its Abby in Kaitlyn Dever. The 27-year-old actress has been cast in the anticipated sophomore series of the acclaimed HBO drama. In the video games, Abby is a Washington Liberation Front (WLF) member. She wants to avenge her father’s death by killing Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal). As she pursues her revenge, she gets tangled with the members of Seraphites, a religious cult that’s WLF’s enemy.
The co-creators of the HBO series, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, expressed their happiness and relief in finding the right actress to play Abby. They said, “Our casting process for season two has been identical to season one: we look for world-class actors who embody the souls of the characters in the source material.”
Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann added, “Nothing matters more than talent, and we’re thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro, Bella and the rest of our family.”

Pedro Pascal And Bella Ramsey Welcome Kaitlyn Dever To ‘The Last Of Us’
Many congratulations and blessings followed Kaitlyn Dever’s casting announcement. Among them is Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel Miller, the reticent hero of the series. Pascal, who currently appeared at the Golden Globes, is excited by the addition of Kaitlyn Dever.
Pedro Pascal paid a tribute to Kaitlyn Dever through an Instagram post with minimalist emoji. Bella Ramsey also congratulated her with the following social media post, “Welcome my friend @kaitlyndever,” Ramsey wrote.
The production of ‘Last of Us’ Season 2 is slated to commence in February 2024. While fans are eagerly looking forward to an early 2025 release, the makers haven’t announced a date yet and the episodes may be released later in 2025.
