James Corden has been a controversial figure due to many instances like his behavior at a New York restaurant. However, the late-night TV host has reigned talk show space since 2015. The many segments like ‘Carpool Karaoke’ or ‘Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts’ became fan favorites. Nevertheless, he announced that he will be stepping down as the talk show host at ‘The Late Late Show’.
James Corden took the reins from Craig Ferguson in 2015. But, in April 2022, he announced that he will be leaving the show. The actor and host will continue the gig till the spring. After the end of ‘The Late Late Show’, CBS has finalized its successor. The network will run the reboot of ‘@midnight’ for the vacant 12:30 a.m. spot.

Stephen Colbert Will Be The Executive Producer Of The ‘@midnight’
When James Corden announced that he will be signing off from ‘The Late Late Show’, the network started hunting for a replacement. CBS head George Cheeks wanted to experiment with something beyond the traditional format. Also, the network wanted to cut the budget for the 12:30 a.m., slot. After the search for a successor, they pinned the reboot of the Comedy Central show ‘@midnight’.
The show ran from 2013 to 2017 on Comedy Central. It was an internet-based game show with three contestants. They played it through a series of improv games like a hashtag-themed game, live challenges, etc., Chris Hardwick was the host of the game show. He will not be retained for the reboot. Stephen Colbert will serve as the Executive Producer of the show. He is already the host of the CBS show ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’.

James Corden Will Resume ‘The Late Late Show’ Before The Summer Of 2023
‘The Late Late Show’ has carried a certain legacy since it first aired in 1995. The four legendary hosts who kept the legacy alive were Craig Kilborn, Tom Synder, Craig Ferguson, and now James Corden. The latter would be the last among the best if CBS does not bring back the late show. In April 2022, James Corden announced his departure in an interview with Deadline.
He told Deadline, “It’s been it’s a really hard decision to leave because I’m so immensely proud of the show. I’m thrilled to be extending [for a year]. I always thought I’d do it for five years and then leave and then I stayed on. I’ve really been thinking about it for a long time, thinking whether there might be one more adventure”.
