‘NCIS‘ had a great cast working in the show but the constant turnover of the cast made fans feel disconnected from the plot. The makers of the show even removed some integral cast from the show. Cote De Pablo who appeared as Ziva in the series, left it even after being a major part of the show.
Ziva was loved by the audience and her departure was heartbreaking. Details on why the character was leaving weren’t shared completely which led to many rumors surrounding her departure.

Cote De Pablo’s Exit From ‘NCIS’ Explored
During a 2013 interview, Cote De Pablo shared that she left the show for personal reasons. In an interview with TV Guide, she said “As far as my decision to leave, that’s a personal thing, and I’d rather leave it at that.” The reason was not fully confirmed by the production as well. In a 2016 interview, she stated another reason that involved how her character would be treated in the future.
Cote said, “They were going to send [Ziva] back to Israel and assemble her an unfortunate, miserable woman. What do I leave all the women that are watching and following the show?’ And I didn’t think it was fair. So, I said, ‘Unless someone can really write something fantastic for [Ziva], I won’t go back.”
Even after both the answers fans still don’t have the exact answer to why she left ‘NCIS’. However, all her cast members were disappointed with her sudden departure from the show. Moreover, fans were also unhappy with how her character turned out.

Will Ziva Return To The Show?
After Pablo departed from the show, she was declared dead in the series. But after season 16, it was shown that she faked her death and is still working somewhere underground. After she departed from the series, Ziva returned on season 17 in the episode ‘Out Of The Darkness’. Ziva teamed up with her old team members in an attempt to find her killer.
She came back to revive her legacy as an assassin to defeat the enemy. But first,
Ziva has to complete one more task which happens to be regaining the trust of her old colleagues as she came back from the dead after a long time gap and it’s hard to trust her again.
Her final appearance in the season happens to be in episode 11 of the 17th season where she tracks down her killer. At first, they thought it was Phineas but it was later revealed the actual mastermind was Sarah Johnson who seemed to be an innocent civilian but in reality, she was working with a terrorist, Mira Sahar Azam. With the help of her skills, she tracks her down and kills Mira.
