John Eisendrath, the showrunner for ‘The Blacklist,’ broke the news of the show not returning for another season. “After 10 years, hundreds of Blacklist cases and more than 200 episodes produced, we’re honored to reach our conclusion,” said Eisendrath. The showrunner added, “It’s been incredibly fun to create the strange, devious and delightful Blacklisters to challenge Raymond Reddington and our FBI Task Force each week.”

The Blacklist‘ took a major creative detour in the eighth season. The founding relationship between Elizabeth (Megan Boone) and Red (James Spader) ends when she dies in his arms. Since then, the show has introduced storylines that focus on different characters. Although it remains to be an exciting action thriller premise, the show’s moments of the bond between Red and Elizabeth are sorely missed.

In the last season, we learn that Red’s adviser Marvin Gerard (Fisher Stevens), is responsible for the death of Elizabeth (Megan Boone). He also informs Wujing about Red’s deal with the FBI. Out for blood, Wujing (Chin Han) plans to enlist the Blacklisters to assist him in locating and eliminating Red. In season 10, Red will take on the might of both sides of the law in his quest for revenge.
