‘Yellowjackets’ Season 2: What Happens To Jackie In The End? Does Lottie Kill Travis?

In the ‘Yellowjackets‘ episode ‘Edible Complex,’ the lost children finally give in to the wilderness. In the progressively growing winter, the chances of survival are getting slimmer. Running out of rations, the group makes a decision there’s no coming back from. It keeps echoing years later, continuing to eat them alive.

In the present, Lottie tells Nat about Travis’ final moments. While police are starting to sniff around Shauna’s role in Adam’s death, Taissa’s cavernous sleepwalking alter-ego lands her and her family in another grave danger. Misty continues to look for Nat while being taunted by the mysterious online sleuth.

Shauna’s (Sophie Nélisse) guilt-ridden conversations with her dead best friend Jackie (Ella Purnell). Is it just grief or plain delusion? No one can decide, despite the survivors having opinions. While Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown) wants to bury Jackie for the longevity of the group’s survival chances, Lottie (Courtney Eaton) seems to side with Shauna and her grieving process. Ultimately, they give in and allow Jackie’s corpse to be placed for cremation.

Afraid of losing Travis (Kevin Alves) to Lottie, Nat (Sophie Thatcher) constructs a lie. She cakes Javi’s clothes with her blood, finally convincing Travis of Javi’s death. But even with human beings and their most ingenious lies, mother nature triumphs. In this case, the “wilderness of the dark.” Once again, nature pushes them to their limit. The snow mysteriously falls on the pyre, leaving the body burnt. All out of patience, the group gives in to their cannibalistic desires and has a true bacchanalian feast of the flesh. Genuinely worried for his safety, a terrified Coach Ben (Steven Breuger) retreats to their cabin.

Cut to the present, Lottie (Simone Kessell) and Nat (Juliette Lewis) talk about Adam’s sudden death. She tells Nate how Travis still struggled with what happened to them years ago. While the other adult members of Yellowjackets are successful in burying their trauma to some extent, it hasn’t been Travis’ experience. Lottie details how he rigged himself to a crane to experience a cathartic near-death experience—the controller of the crane malfunctions, leading to his death. As viewers noted, Lottie sees ghosts of the past, paralyzing her with fear while Travis choked to his death.

Lottie conveniently leaves the part of the story where her hallucinations are back. Nat doesn’t see through his, although she already smells something fishy and doubts Lottie’s version of the story. Meanwhile, the police build their case around Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), and Citizen Detective invites Misty (Christina Ricci) to investigate Adam’s death collectively. Things get worse for Taissa (Tawny Cypress) as she hallucinates about her son visiting her. On their way to pick him up, Taissa and her wife Simone get into a car accident. All demons have come to the surface.
