‘Death Note’ is one of the most popular anime of all time. For most people, it is one of the first anime they have watched, if not the first. The anime is known for the battle of wits and intelligence between Light Yagami and L. Fans are divided on how L found out that Light was Kira and how Light subsequently killed him.
Fans commend L’s smartness and intelligence. However, many fans wonder if L figuring out Light was Kira was due to his intelligence alone, or did Light make some mistakes. Here are the top mistakes that Light made that ousted him as Kira in front of L.
3) He Revealed His Location
In the start, Light Yagami wanted to use the ‘Death Note’ to make the world a better place. He wanted to make sure that the world would be rid of criminals and wrongdoers. To achieve this particular goal of his, he started watching news channels to find out who the criminals are and to know their names and faces. When he first found out about the notebook, he didn’t believe it was real despite seeing Ryuk, the shinigami, and tested its powers. One of the first criminals he killed was Otoharada. However, that was a mistake on his part because the criminal wasn’t well known. Because of this fact, L was able to deduce that Kira lived in Japan.
2) Killing Lind L. Tailor
Although Light’s first mistake in revealing his location was killing Otoharada, his second mistake solidified L’s suspicion. Lind L. Tailor pretended to be the fake L and killing him confirmed the real L’s suspicion regarding Kira’s location and put Light in his view. Lind. L Tailor challenged Kira on live television. Light believed that the broadcast was being shown around the world, but L later revealed that the broadcast was shown only in Japan. Because of this mistake, L was able to confirm that the killer was in Japan.
1) He Read The Information On His Dad’s Computer
Light’s dad, Soichiro Yagami, had a major role in trying to uncover the identity of Kira. Light of course knew that his father was involved in the investigation and his father’s connections for his benefit. He had some sensitive information on his computer which he read. According to the information, the police believed that Kira killed people at specific times. After reading this information, Light Yagami changed his ways. This made L suspicious that Kira was related to someone in the police force. He also suspected that he was related to someone who had a very high post. This led to him suspecting Light Yagami.
