‘Death Note’ is one of the most popular anime of all time and is the first anime that most anime fans watch. The anime is truly a masterpiece and has a great plot. The characters, the storyline, and the tension in the series are some of the things that fans truly adore. However, there is one thing that the fans wish could have changed in the series.
The series ended with Light’s defeat and subsequent death as Ryuk killed him. Fans wish that it could have been changed and that Light’s fate should have been different. Here are three ways in which Light’s ending could have been different.
3) Light Yagami Should Have Repented
Light Yagami managed to defeat and subsequently defeat L. According to most fans, L was a better detective than Near was, and Near shouldn’t have been able to defeat Light. In the end, it is shown that Light is wounded and that it is Ryuk who kills him by writing his name in the Death Note as he promised him in the start. Instead of Ryuk killing Light, he should have not written his name. Ryuk should have let Light live and ultimately be arrested for his crimes than be killed. In this way, Light could have actually repented for the destruction he caused.
2) Light Should Have Lived
As mentioned above, Light is killed at the end of the series by Ryuk. Instead of being killed by him, Ryuk should have chosen to not write his name there. Light should have had a contingency plan that would allow him to escape. He should have lived and then planned for his revenge on Near. However, without Misa and even Rem, he would have been left completely alone as even Ryuk didn’t actually care about him. This is one of the ways in which Light’s ending could have been different.
1) Light Should Have Returned
Light is known for having some of the best plans in the entire anime world. He defeated L in the most unexpected and unpredictable manner. The anime should have ended similarly to how the ‘Death Note’ live action film did. Everything should have gone the way it did, however, after some time, the deaths should have begun again. In the end, there should have been a note dropped at Near’s house or at the police station that mentioned that everything was going according to plan. This is one way that Light’s ending could have been different.
