‘Demon Slayer’ is one of the most popular anime currently and it has very well gained its popularity. The anime is famous for its characters, plot and of course, it’s amazing animation. Fans are very excited about the release of new episodes and even the subsequent seasons. Some characters that the fans are interested in are the 12 demon moons of Kibutsuji Muzan.
The 12 moons follow a hierarchy. Fans however are curious about one thing about these moons. They wish to know how exactly a demon becomes part of the upper moons.
What Are The 12 Kizuki?
The 12 Kizuki, or the demon moons, are the biggest obstacles for the demon slayer corps after Muzan himself. These demons have the highest concentration of Muzan’s blood. There are a total of 12 such demons called the Kizuki, and they are divided into two groups, the upper moons, and the lower moons. The upper moons of course are far more powerful than the lower moons. Both the lower moons and upper moons are given ranks from one to six with six being the weakest and one being the strongest. The upper moon 1, Kokushibo is the strongest demon in existence after Muzan himself.
The lower moons have their ranks engraved in one of their eyes whilst the upper moons have it engraved in both of their eyes. The upper moons of the Kizuki had not been killed or defeated in over a hundred years until Gyutaro and Daki’s defeat. The lower moons on the contrary were killed many times. This behavior of the lower moons of the Kizuki enraged Muzan to the point that he killed all the lower moons apart from one.
How Does A Demon Get Promoted To Upper Rank?
As mentioned above, the upper ranks are the strongest of the demons. These demons have the highest concentration of Muzan’s blood. Many fans believe that a demon has to be old for it to be a part of the upper ranks, but that’s not true. Kaigaku isn’t very old and he still is an upper-rank demon.
There is no set procedure that a demon needs to follow to become a part of the upper ranks. The only requirement is that they should be powerful, cunning and of course, should devour multiple humans. A demon needs to garner Muzan’s attention to become a member of the Kizuki. In addition to that, no rule states that a demon must be of a lower rank before being promoted.
To become an upper moon, the demons need to have a higher percentage of Muzan’s blood and for that, they need his attention. As soon as the demon receives a higher percentage of blood, it becomes stronger to the point that it can become an upper rank. Akaza managed to snatch Muzan’s attention whilst he was a human. He killed many people when he was human and that got Muzan’s attention. Kokushibo also garnered Muzan’s attention. However, his being Yoriichi’s older twin might have helped. This is how demons can become an upper rank of the Kizuki in ‘Demon Slayer’.
