‘Dragon Ball’ has always given the viewers a thrill in terms of its amazing and well-thought fighting sequence and the wonderful transformations that take place, especially with the Saiyans. The person who has probably had the most number and the widest range of transformations has to be Son Goku.
He has had multiple transformations and would probably get more as the series continues. Each transformation Goku has is unique in its way. It does however raise a certain question in the fans’ minds. They are curious about which of Goku’s transformations took him the longest to learn and master. Read to find out.

Who Is Son Goku?
Son Goku or better known as Goku is the main character of the entire ‘Dragon Ball’ series. He is originally a Saiyan from Planet Vegeta and was sent to Earth as an infant. His true name is Kakarot. When he came to earth, Grandpa Gohan found him and adopted him, and gave him his name, Son Goku.
He is the Earth’s greatest defender and trains himself constantly to become stronger. Goku enjoys the thrill of a fight, a trait that he could not pass down to his son Gohan who does not like fighting. Goku has given his life a few times to save the earth but has been brought back each time.
He has transformed multiple times into a Super Saiyan and more forms in the series. He has seemingly endless potential and would probably have more transformations in the series.
Which Form Took Him Longest To Learn And Master?
This is a difficult question to answer as Goku manages to learn and master even the most difficult of forms. But if one has to choose, it would have to be a tie between Super Saiyan 3 and Ultra Instinct.
Goku never really learned the Super Saiyan 3 or the SSJ3 form. He was trying to learn super Saiyan 3 but then realized that a third stage also existed. Even when he managed to transform, he realized that he couldn’t sustain the form as it took a lot of energy. He needed to master the form and alter it so that it would not drain him. It wasn’t until ‘Dragon Ball Super’ that he managed to master it.
As for Ultra Instinct, Goku still hasn’t mastered it. This form is by far the most challenging form Goku has ever come across. It took him a while to learn the form. This form is so difficult that even Beerus, the god of destruction of universe 7 hasn’t mastered it.
Goku managed to tap into Mastered Ultra Instinct during the tournament of power, but cannot trigger it properly. He needs to be able to trigger the form himself and sustain it for a longer duration. Since he still hasn’t mastered it, it is probably the longest it took him to master a form.
