Who Is Kamado Tanjiro?
Kamado Tanjiro is the protagonist of ‘Demon Slayer’. Tanjiro used to be a woodcutter and had his entire family living near the forest. One day, he goes to the forest to cut wood, and when he returns he finds his entire family to be murdered, save for his one sister. Kibutsuji Muzan, the demon king, murdered his entire family and turned Kamado Nezuko into a demon.
Tanjiro started training as a demon slayer after this incident. He wanted to find a cure for Nezuko and wanted to get revenge for his family by killing Muzan. Appearance-wise, Tanjiro has brown hair with red tips and brown eyes. He also has a scar that looks like a mark. Personality-wise, Tanjiro is very kind and caring. He surprised many people with his kindness including Kanao, Genya, and even some demons.
Kamado Tanjiro is also the second-ever user of the sun-breathing style. He learned the breathing style from his father who practised it as a dance rather than a fighting technique. The sun breathing was created by Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the strongest demon slayer to ever exist.
How Did Tanjiro Get The Hanafuda Earrings?
One trademark of Kamado Tanjiro is the Hanafuda earrings he wears. It is these earrings that scared Muzan when he ran into him. Kibutsuji Muzan got scared and mistook him for Yoriichi upon seeing those earrings. Yoriichi was the original owner of the Hanafuda earrings.
Yoriichi saved a man named Sumiyoshi from a demon when he was alive. Ever since then, Sumiyoshi stuck around him and they quickly became friends. Sumiyoshi used to see him practice the sun breathing and he memorized these moves. Sumiyoshi passed down these moves to his successors as a prayer dance to the sun god rather than a breathing style.
Yoriichi gave his friend the Hanafuda earrings he used to have as a gift. Sumiyoshi was Tanjiro’s ancestor and he gave those earrings to his children and they passed it further down the line until they finally reached Tanjiro. This is how Kamado Tanjiro came to possess the Hanafuda earrings.
