‘Pokémon’ is most definitely one of the most popular anime of all time. Although Ash Ketchum’s journey has ended, the series itself is far from being over. A new series, ‘Pokémon Horizons: The Series’ has just begun. Fans have been loving the series, but they’re hoping to see some of the faces from the original show, in particular Ash Ketchum.
It seems like their wish is getting fulfilled. A character, Professor Friede, seems like the grown-up version of Ash Ketchum. Fans wish to know whether it is actually him, or does he just resemble Ash.
Who Is Friede?
Friede, better known as Professor Friede is a character from ‘Pokémon Horizons: The Series’. He is the commander of the Rising Volt Tacklers. The Tacklers are a group of people traveling across the world to figure out the mysteries of the Pokémon.
Appearance-wise, Friede is a young man, seemingly teenaged or in his early twenties, and has a tanned skin tone. He has white hair and wears a brown jacket along with grey pants. He also wears pilot goggles which is one of his noticeable features. Friede is a Pokémon professor and knows a lot about them and their world. He is very interested in finding out more and uncovering some of the mysteries. Although he is a professor, he doesn’t like to be called that. He met Liko when her mother asked him to protect her.
Personality-wise, Friede is very extroverted and outspoken. He is extremely talented and smart but is somewhat of an airhead. Friede often forgets to relay important information and forgets crucial details as well. He is extremely loyal and protective towards the people he cares about and would do anything to protect them, even if it means risking himself.
Is Friede A Grown Up Ash Ketchum?
Unfortunately for the fans, Friede is not the grown-up version of Ash Ketchum, at least not canonically. However, it does seem like the character was designed keeping in mind what Ash Ketchum would be like when he is grown up. Ash and Friede have no similarities appearance-wise, but they are quite similar when it comes to their personality.
Their personalities are very similar. Friede is a grown-up but still has the vibe and energy of a teenager. Although Friede is exceptionally talented and is most definitely a seasoned veteran, he is still an airhead. This coincides with what Ash would be like when they grow up. Another similarity between them is their choice of Pokémon. Both Ash and Friede use Charizard and Pikachu as their main Pokémon to fight other trainers.
Friede and Ash also share their love for Pokémon. Friede started working with the Rising Volt Tacklers, a group that travels around the world to solve Pokémon mysteries. This showcases his love for Pokémon. Ash Ketchum is also someone who would work with a group such as this. Therefore it is safe to say that whilst Friede is not the grown-up version of Ash, they are very similar.
