Who Is Makima?
‘Makima’ is one of the strongest characters in the ‘Chainsaw Man’ universe because of her brute physical strength, demonic abilities, cunning, and manipulative nature. Because she is feared by everyone, including humans, demons, and fiends, she is more effective as a devil. The president of the United States asserts that nations other than America have already given up on trying to fight her.
Chainsaw Man’s initial story arc includes Makima as one of its primary characters. She is a senior member of the Public Safety Devil Hunters and the commander of Tokyo Special Division 4, an experimental force, which is revealed early in the story.
This brings us to her debut appearance when she locates Denji shortly after he turns into the Chainsaw Man (in the premiere anime episode) and invites him to join her group. Denji believes Makima to be the kindest and friendliest person he has ever met, and the first to treat him like a human. Even after their first meeting, he starts to feel romantically inclined toward her.
‘Makima’ gives off the impression of being a lovely, sweet, sociable, and affable woman. She practically always has a smile on her face, and even under pressure, she oozes assurance and composure. She only uses this as a pretext, though, to accomplish her real goal.
‘Makima’ has the power to manipulate any other entity and has been identified as the control devil. But before she can exert influence over the target, she must first convince herself that she can do it. She uses Denji’s romantic emotions to lure him into her plan and progressively weakens him so that she can take Chainsaw Man’s skills.
Is Makima Really A Villan? What Are Her Goals?
‘Makima’ wanted to control Pochita and use the Chainsaw devil’s power of devil elimination to create an ideal world when the control devil is first introduced. She wants a world without fear, death, and theoretically flawed films.
But in Chapter 96 of the manga, ‘Makima’ declares that she wishes to spend a happy eternity with him after concluding that she has vanquished Pochita. Even if she loses, she says it will be an honor for him to get rid of her.
