This Barbie Is A Two-Time Oscar Winner At 22: Billie Eilish Wins Second Oscar For ‘What Was I Made For?’

Hollywood is a wonderland and sometimes it’s good to get lost in its glory. While there are many names that went down in history tonight, the Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell duo is special. Oscars, where stars twirl and dreams do the cha-cha, Billie Eilish grabbed the spotlight for a repeat performance.

It was a serene moment that may have felt like déjà vu, but it’s not. Billie and her partner-in-crime, Finneas O’Connell, added another golden trophy to their throne tonight and this one is freshly plucked from the 96th Academy Awards.

Cue the Hollywood magic for a minute and let’s talk about the real show-stealer. The 22-year-old Billie’s historic win in the Best Original Song category just made her the only two-time Oscar winner of her age. After Eilish’s ‘James Bond’ soundtrack ‘No Time to Die’s win in 2021, ‘Barbie’s ‘What Was I Made For?’ brought the brother-sister duo back into the winner’s circle.

Being presented by the Oscars’ fairy godmothers Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, Billie and Finneas accepted their second golden triumph. With pure bewilderment, the eight-time Grammy winner started her victory speech, “I had a nightmare about this last night. Thank you so much to the Academy, I just didn’t think this would happen, I was not expecting this.”

Giving a shoutout to Greta Gerwig, the genius behind ‘Barbie, Eilish said “Thank you to Greta, where did you go, I love you. This goes out to everyone who was affected by the movie and how incredible it is.”

Before making history at the Oscars stage, Billie and Finneas teased their highly anticipated performance in a red carpet interview.  The duo promised something “super simple” but wildly deep.

The singer said, “What I like about it is that it’s very back to how we created the song, very much just me and Finneas and kind of nothing else. It’s very much the two of us that’s really special to me.”

Staying true to their words, the live rendition of ‘Barbie’s ‘What Was I Made For?’ was exactly what you will call a soulful escapade. Billie’s voice pierced the hearts and left the stars watching spellbound.
