Ryan Seacrest, the “American Idol” host had to deal with a wardrobe emergency recently. This all happened during the live broadcast of the reality show’s finale. Seacrest’s savior came in the form of a stylist named Miles. They ended up swapping underwear with each other during the commercial break.
The host referred to this incident as — a quick fix to the problem of his “anatomy,” (referring to his genitals) that was prominently visible through his pants.
Ryan’s Wardrobe Malfunction Was Live
He narrated this incident to his co-host, Kelly Ripa, during “Live with Kelly and Ryan.”
“Miles is in charge of the suits that I put on — he makes sure everything’s lined up and buttoned,” Seacrest said to Ripa. “You know when you go to a commercial, and they go, ‘Can I tell you something? You need to change your underwear.'”
Initially, he was confused and then was told that viewers had noticed “anatomy in the shot” of him on the stage in his suit pants. But Seacrest didn’t have any extra underwear. He went on to reveal that Miles simply offered him his. The stylist said, “Don’t worry, I’ve got mine.” The two men quickly undressed and exchanged undergarments.
The incident has now turned comical as Seacrest emphasized the details. “He’s English so he has shorter, tighter ones,” he explained to Ripa. She insisted that the solution should have been to change the camera shot, not swap underwear.
“So we go backstage during the commercial and find a little corner and I’m literally taking off my pants and underwear and putting his on,” Seacrest continued. “Anything for the show, right? It’s a family show.”
Ripa probed him to explain what was wrong with his “underpants” in the first place. “Was it diminishing or enhancing?” she asked, in reference to whether the issue made his genitals appear smaller or larger.
Seacrest feigned ignorance and did not attempt to answer the question. He said, “I didn’t read the comments and I never will.” But then an audience member came forward and confirmed that it was “enhancing“.
Ripa further added to this comment and said that the original underwear should “stay.”
