Nearly eight years after ending her marriage to Chris Pratt, Anna Faris is looking back on one of the most painful periods of her life. The actress recently shared a rare and honest reflection on the divorce, admitting she felt “sad” during the split.
Faris also revealed how an unexpected project helped her cope with heartbreak, personal struggles, and life after her eight-year marriage ended.
Anna Faris Opens Up About Life After Divorce With Chris Pratt

In a new Variety profile published on Saturday, Faris looked back on the period surrounding her separation from Pratt. The actress admitted that the breakup was emotionally challenging but said her podcast, ‘Anna Faris Is Unqualified‘, became an important source of comfort.
“I was feeling sad,” Faris recalled, explaining that producing the podcast “helped a lot” during that chapter of her life. Faris and Pratt married in 2009 and welcomed their son, Jack, in 2012. After nearly a decade together, the couple finalized their divorce in 2018. During the difficult transition, Faris said she felt fortunate to have built a platform that connected her with listeners.
“I’m lucky that at that time I had my podcast”. “I wanted, like, four people to listen and to build my own secret community. I wanted an avenue outside of Hollywood as a way to connect with people.”
Although Faris described herself as someone who has “a constant desire to connect with people,” she acknowledged that she did not reveal everything about her personal life on the show. Still, she found comfort in knowing the space was there if she ever needed it.
“It made me think, ‘I know I could be happy if I’m writing because I’ve always loved that, and maybe that’s an avenue to make money,’” the ‘House Bunny‘ actress said. At the time, Faris was even considering “a version of retirement.” However, her outlook has changed dramatically in recent years.
Looking back on her career, she expressed gratitude for the opportunities that continue to come her way. “Now, the opportunities are more bountiful than they’ve ever been!”. “I’m just overwhelmed with gratitude,” Faris added.
Fans often approach her to share how projects such as ‘The House Bunny‘, ‘Scary Movie‘, and ‘Mom‘ have impacted their lives. “When people see me, they usually smile and say, ‘Oh, I love ‘The House Bunny’ or ‘Oh, I love ‘Scary Movie’ or ‘Mom’ helped me through that hard time.’”
Faris Reflects On Fame, Marriage, And Moving Forward

While discussing her years in the spotlight, Faris admitted that spending more than two decades inevitably influenced her perspective. She said she had “enough gumption, enough of a core” to withstand both the divorce and the intense public attention surrounding it.

At the same time, she acknowledged it would be unrealistic to believe that 26 years of public scrutiny had not affected her in some way. Still, Faris made it clear that she refuses to let outside judgment define her. “But, f–k the scrutiny,” she remarked.
The actress has also previously spoken about challenges within her marriage to Pratt. During a 2021 episode of her podcast featuring Gwyneth Paltrow, Faris reflected on having been married to two actors, including her former husband, Ben Indra, whom she married from 2004 to 2008. She suggested that competition may have played a role in her relationships.
Faris told Paltrow that she and her actor spouses did not do “a great job of eliminating competitiveness.” She added, “Or at least I didn’t, being a proud person, and not wanting to reveal vulnerability.” Since their divorce, both Faris and Pratt have moved on and found happiness in new relationships.
