Beyoncé’s Mother Tina Knowles Slams ‘Racist’ Skin-Whitening Allegations On Daughter’s New Look

Music queen Beyoncé is not immune to social media hatred like any other celebrity. However. like a super mother, it’s Tina Knowles who has come to rescue her daughter from the criticism the 42-year-old was receiving for her alleged “white skin tone“.

As several social media users trolled Beyoncé for alleged skin-whitening after her appearance at the world premiere of ‘Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé‘, her mother came up to her defense on Instagram. Sharing a fan-made video of Beyoncé, the woman wrote in the caption: “How sad is it that some of her own people continue the stupid narrative with hate and jealousy.”

Queen Bay finds herself in the spiral of controversy as her appearance at the world premiere of Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé, featured her in a dazzling new look and allegedly made her appear fairer than she originally is.

Beyoncé was seen donning a silver-themed outfit at the premiere, with ice-blonde tresses and a silver Versace gown. “She wore silver hair to match her silver dress as a fashion statement clown. ALIEN Superstar, duh!” Tina said in the post, as she debunked the allegations by the naysayers on social media.

The star’s mother called out the racist remarks, particularly made by a white woman from TMZ who she said “felt entitled to discuss Beyoncé’s blackness“. Citing the infamous history of oppression against black women, Tina said there have been several instances in the past where black women sporting platinum hair were humiliated for their boldness.

The mother acknowledged that her daughter would definitely be “pissed” at her for openly defending her, though she clarified that she is “too fed up” to remain silent. She further went on to praise her daughter’s character and the kind nature wherein she chooses to help others and promote black women.

Tina’s Instagram post quickly gained traction, as many fans and celebrities spoke up in support of Beyoncé. Stars including Nick Canon, Issa Rae, Keke Palmer, and Octavia Spencer, praised Tina for taking a stand against what they claimed was “baseless criticism“.

What Is The White-Washing Controversy?

The controversy stemmed from a photo of the 42-year-old star, clad in the silver Versace gown, with comments questioning if she was trying to look like a white woman.

Why is Beyonce so white??? I didn’t recognise her at first…..,” one of the comments on the post read.

I have never understood those celebrities who are supposedly proud of their origin but try to change their physical appearance. whitening their image to fit into another race. It is contradictory and ridiculous,” another social media user wrote.

Literally everyone looking like a Kardashian,” another user wrote.

Some others came up in Beyoncé’s defense. “The reason she looks so white is cuz her hair is very light and there is flash photography and her dress AND the backdrop are all reflective silver so of course she appears much whiter it’s literally just common sense and science,” an Instagram user wrote.

The controversy comes amid the release of the film featuring the Queen Bay. While ‘Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé‘ is mostly garnering positive comments, the negative criticism seems to have left the music queen unbothered. Beyoncé herself has not commented on the matter yet.
