Staying lean and the ability to fit into any role are a few things an actor must check off from the list. A good physique is required to perform stunts and command a certain screen presence. Dave Bautista is on his road to achieving all of this.
The former WWE star has shared that he has started to focus on his body again and is actually ‘killing himself’ to be in shape. He feels that he got big and fat and misses his old healthy body.
Dave Bautista Is Grinding Hard To Achieve A Lean Body
Dave Bautista shared how he is “absolutely” focusing on staying slim to avoid being “distracting” on camera on the ‘Insight with Chris Van Vliet‘ podcast. He explained, “I started trimming down for a particular reason. Why? One, I started trimming down because I just got fat.” He also expressed that he has gotten “uncomfortably big” since starring in ‘Knock At The Cabin‘, a role for which he gained around 315 pounds.
The ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy‘ actor recalled, “When I was younger, I was carrying lots and lots of muscle. This I had to put on like you know, between films. I had a very short period to put the suede on. I packed it on with french fries and pancakes.“

Furthermore, Bautista added that director M. Night Shyamalan asked him to be in his best shape so that he would look like a powerlifter. “I just want you to look like a great big guy”, the filmmaker commanded. But the actor went the extra mile: “And so now, looking back at it, man, I probably overdid it.”
Trimming Down Ultimately Made Bautista Feel Better
Bautista truly believes that trimming down has changed his life for the better and he is more sure of himself on camera next to the big actors now. He explained, “I was probably a little too big, but at the time, I was just thinking, ‘I got to get big, got to get big, I got to get big,’ and I put an uncomfortable amount of weight, and it took me forever to shed it out”.

People online were concerned about his health and the thing which made him feel “big” was his weight and height as well. He recalled the reactions: “‘God, you’re skinny.’ I even saw online some people are worried about my health, and when I say out loud to people, ‘I’m 6’4”, 240 pounds.’ It sounds like when you say that out loud, it sounds like I’m a big person.”
But to those who are concerned, he’s just a big 6’4 guy who is also anorexic. He thinks he looks like a “gorllia” next to any actor and that’s “distracting”. He’s training hard to rectify the situation.
