Timothée Chalamet didn’t want his collaboration with the contentious filmmaker to spoil his chances of winning an Oscar this year, according to Woody Allen’s memoir. According to a passage from his book ‘Apropos of Nothing’, the then 24-year-old star of his film ‘A Rainy Day in New York’ publicly denounced him after production ended to increase his chances of winning an Oscar for his performance in Luca Guadagnino’s 2017 drama ‘Call Me by Your Name’. Ultimately, Gary Oldman for ‘Darkest Hour’ won the Best Actor award over the ‘Call Me by Your Name’ actor. Along with Chalamet, actress Rebecca Hall also contributed her movie proceeds to Time’s Up, and Selena Gomez is said to have given a sizeable sum to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund that “much exceeded her salary for the film,” as reported by PEOPLE. “Anyhow, I didn’t regret working with him,” Allen continued of Chalamet in the book, “and I’m not giving any of my money back.”
