Many people have come and changed their lives with the help of the ‘Dr. Phil’ show. Phillip Calvin McGraw, popularly known as Dr. Phil, had his show running for two decades. After 22 seasons he decided to end the show. Dr. Phil’s television career took flight when he met Oprah Winfrey for the Amarillo Texas beef trial. With her help, they started the ‘Dr. Phil‘ show. He further obtained his M.A. in experimental psychology and Ph.D. in clinical psychology. After he did a post-doctoral study in forensic psychology, he returned to Texas to practice. In 1990, he found Courtroom Sciences Inc. with lawyer Gary Dobbs. Through CSI Phil met Oprah.

When he signed the five-year extension contract with the show distributor, King World Productions, they decided his salary would be $15 million. In 2012, he co-founded the telehealth company Doctors On Demand. The company arranges virtual doctors’ appointments. It ranges from physicians to psychologists. By the ending season, Phil’s salary increased to $80 million.

In 2006, the California Board of Psychology decided that Phil’s show is more about entertainment rather than psychology. Therefore, it was decided that he should not renew his practice license. His company Doctors on Demand did very well when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Dr. Phil’s career and work even before as a trial consultant inspired many spin-off series. ‘The Bull’, and ‘The Doctors’ were some of those television shows.

When Phil McGraw was 20 years old he married Debbie Higgins McCall. However, the marriage soon went sour. McCall accused her husband of making her conscious of her body. She claims that Phil would not let her help in the business and confined her to household duties. McCall even accused the doctor of cheating on her. In 1973 the couple filed to annul the marriage.

While he was separating from his first wife he started dating Robin Jo Jameson. Three years later, he married Robin. The couple has two children, Jay, and Jordan McGraw. Jay is a television producer and the president and CEO of Stage 29 Productions.

Phil McGraw lives in Beverly Hills, California with his wife, Robin. They bought a house in Beverly Hills in 2010. The house is a Mediterranean-style villa spread over three acres of ground. The main house has five bedrooms and surprisingly eleven bathrooms, a guest house, and a pool. The couple has bought and sold properties in Beverly Hills before.
