But situations were not so flexible a few years ago and even Oprah Winfrey had been put on the spot for her marital and family planning decisions.
We all know that famous talk show celebrity has lived a life that is merited to give providence to others. ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show‘ star has remained unmarried and childless for years and it had been a head-scratching question for reporters and interviewers. That is, up until 2009 when she revealed to BBC News why she had chosen to live such a life.

Oprah’s Reason To Stay Childless
From her televised success, ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show‘, we know that growing up Oprah had a neglecting, discouraging mother. She did not have the usual stable, happy family either. She was born to a teen mother and moved around from Mississippi, Wisconsin to Tennessee. Winfrey showed talent at public speaking but her mother, who worked as a housemaid, could not make time for her and did not make her education a priority, unlike her grandmother. At the young age of nine, she was molested by her family members and friends. Years later when she opened up about it, her mother blatantly refused to believe the story. Oprah, before her success, certainly faced many disappointments from her mother alone.
In 2009, she told BBC News that she had chosen not to be a mother because she had not been mothered well. It sounds like a tearful conclusion to approach. However, she seems to have made peace with her dark past now.
Later in 2019, in an interview with People magazine, she stated that she considered motherhood once and even bought a family apartment after being in a relationship with Stedman Graham. Then why didn’t she do so? “I don’t have the ability to compartmentalize the way I see other women do. It is why, throughout my years, I have had the highest regard for women who choose to be at home [with] their kids, because I don’t know how you do that all day long. Nobody gives women the credit they deserve,” she revealed.

Why Oprah Never Got Married
While life did not start fair for Oprah, she is the best example of getting up and making things happen for yourself. After twenty-five years of a successful show, a steady partner, and two dogs, Oprah holds no regrets. The self-made billionaire claims she does not regret her life as she is at this stage because things unfolded a certain way.
During her chat with People, she said that Stedman and she mutually agreed that their relationship would be different had they gotten married. “If we had married, we would not be together. I have not had one regret about that. I also believe that part of the reason why I don’t have regrets is because I got to fulfill it in the way that was best for me,” she said.
