The swoon-worthy couple celebrated their eight-year anniversary on 27 September 2022. Apart from being couple goals, the duo is also great at parenting. George and Amal are parents of 5-year-old twins, namely Alexender and Ella.

A Chance Meet Cute
George Clooney first saw Amal in his living room. Clooney invited a friend over for dinner at his home in Italy, who asked him if he could bring a friend over. Guess who the friend was? Yes! of course, the gorgeous Amal. The pair instantly bonded and talked the whole night. Clooney was fascinated by Amal’s charm.
“It’s the wildest thing. A mutual friend of ours said, ‘I’m stopping by and can I bring my friend?’ And I was like, ‘Of course.’ I got a call from my agent who called me and said, ‘I met this woman who’s coming to your house who you’re gonna marry.” George recalled. He even told how Amal won over both him and his parents the night they met. “The funniest thing was my mom and dad were visiting, so my parents were there, and we just talked, and we stayed up all night talking,” he said.

After communicating for several days over email, both of them realized their developing feelings for each other. “Over a period of time, it became clear we were more than just friends,” George told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017. They finally went on their first date in London in October 2013. At the time he was working on his film ‘The Monuments Men‘ there.
“That was a good first date. Then we went for dinner. She said, ‘Let’s go to this place.’ It was one of those places that were incredibly hip and chic. And when we came out, there were 50 paparazzi there. But she handled it like a champ,” Clooney revealed.

After a few months of dating, the couple fell immensely in love with each other in November 2013. “It felt like the most natural thing in the world,” Amal told Vogue. In February 2014 the couple went on a trip to Africa together. Spending time with Amal on this trip and going on wildlife safaris made Clooney realize that he wants to spend the rest of his life with this woman.
“We went on a safari in Kenya. Amal loves giraffes; they’re her favorite animal. She went to this place called Giraffe Manor, where the giraffes stick their heads through the windows and kiss you. I had a picture of her, looking back, smiling at these giraffes and I said, ‘I think I’m going to ask her to marry me,” said Clooney.

On April 28, 2014, George popped the big question in the most simple and elegant way. The couple was having their casual date night at home when the actor asked the barrister to get a lighter from his drawer where he kept the engagement ring.
“She reached back and pulled out a ring. And I did all the stuff: got down on my knee, and did all the things you’re supposed to do. She just kept staring at the ring, going, ‘Oh, my God.’ It was 20 minutes of me on my knee, waiting for her to say yes because she was so shocked,” Clooney told the Hollywood Reporter.
