Former One Direction member Liam Payne‘s sudden death at the mere age of 31 has sent shockwaves through the music industry, raising questions about the circumstances under which he died. As per reports, the singer “jumped” from his hotel room balcony on the third floor, under the “influence of alcohol or drugs“.
The singer seemed to be in good spirits, more so from the last video he recorded during a vacation with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy. It was shared on Liam’s verified Snapchat account and is presumed to be his last video. However, new reports reveal that just a few days before his death, Payne got himself into a new controversy as his ex-fiancée Maya Henry made some problematic comments against him. Here’s what we know about it.
Liam Payne’s Ex-Fiancée Maya Henry Called Out His Obsessive Behavior Recently
According to Daily Mail, Liam Payne’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry accused the former One Direction singer of “weaponizing” his fans against her. Just a few days before his death, the 23-year-old model sent him a cease and desist letter via her lawyers.
Henry, who was also engaged to Payne for nearly a year before they ended things in 2021, shared terrifying details of Payne’s alleged obsessive behavior in a TikTok video posted on October 6. “Ever since we broke up, he messages me, blows up my phone. He’ll create new iCloud accounts to message me,” she said. Henry claimed the singer even contacted her family and friends, adding, “Is this normal behavior to you?
Henry made more disturbing claims in the video, asserting that Liam is “constantly doing weird s–t”. “He literally said the reason he has all these people on his damn Snapchat, which he has had for years apparently, and messages, is he preys on One Direction fans because they’re loyal to him,” Payne’s ex-fiancée added.
Liam Payne Said He Wasn’t “A Good Verison” Of Himself While In Relationship With Maya Henry
Liam Payne has had a history of drug abuse as well as problems in romantic relationships. Shortly after Henry and Payne ended their engagement in 2021, Payne said he was at fault for the breakdown in their relationship.
“I feel like more than anything at this point, I’m more disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people,” Payne said on Stephen Bartlett’s Diary Of A CEO podcast at the time. “That annoys me. I’ve just not been very good at relationships. And I know what my pattern of things is with relationships at this point.”

“That’s where I got to in my last relationship. I just wasn’t giving a very good version of me anymore, that I didn’t appreciate and I didn’t like being. I can honestly say I feel better out of it,” he said. “I didn’t feel good doing what I did but it had to happen. Just a corny way to say it was the best for us both,” he added.
A day before his death, the former One Direction member was reportedly “erratic“, and also smashed a laptop in the hotel lobby. The postmortem results of the star are awaited for further details.
