Hollywood friendships are rarely genuine. The comic duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler lived up to the term ‘Best Friend Forever’. The ‘Mean Girl‘ stars recently celebrated their thirty years of friendship by announcing their first live comedy tour. They have been in each other’s lives for a while now and have always been there looking out for each other.
It all started with an Improv! Many fans wonder if their on-screen friendship is the same as their off-screen friendship, or if it’s all just an act of professional co-stars who times their jokes accurately. Well in reality, Tina Fey and Any Poehler share a much stronger bond than what is shown on-screen and connect with each other on a much higher level.

How Did Tina Fey And Amy Poehler Meet?
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler met at a Chicago Improv class and got along instantly. They both auditioned for Second City and landed roles with the coveted comedy company. But in 1996, the comedy duo was in a long-distance friendship, and just a year later they again met in New York. Fey became the first female head writer of Saturday Night Live and occasionally perform comedy together.
In 2001, with the assistance of Tina Fey, Amy Poehler also got a job at ‘Saturday Night Live‘ as a cast member. Later in 2005, the duo became the first female co-anchors of a recurring SNL skit called Weekend Update. Both were successful women in the field of comedy leading to Tina Fey winning the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American humor which was presented by her best friend. In 2013 the duo hosted their first-ever Golden Globe together.

The Comic Duo Has Starred In Movies Together
Apart from establishing a successful career in comedy, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler starred in many movies together. In 2004, the comic duo played a role in the cult favorite ‘Mean Girls‘. Tina Fey portrayed the role of the inconsiderate high school teacher and also wrote the screenplay of the film. While Poehler reprised the role of Regina George’s cool mom.
In 2013, the comedy duo appeared in a cameo role in Anchorman 2. In 2008 the SNL co-stars worked together in the rom-com movie Baby Mama. Amy Poehler made her directorial debut with ‘Wine Country‘, in 2019 which also featured Tina Fey. Amy and Tina starred in ‘Sisters‘ together in 2015 which is about two very distinct sisters who find out that their parents are selling the family home that they grew up in.
