Childhood traumas are as much a part of their lives as it is for many of us. In a brave and vulnerable move, actor Oliver Hudson has opened up about his childhood struggles during a recent interview.
Born to a celebrity mother, actress Goldie Hawn, Oliver spent his childhood surrounded by media attention. Besides, his mother also separated from his father Bill Hudson shortly after his birth. As a child, Oliver had his part of struggles and traumas with his mother having multiple boyfriends. The actor has opened up about it. Here’s what he said.

Oliver Hudson Opens Up About The Challenges He Faced While Growing Up
After Oliver Hudson’s parents Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson got separated while he was still young, his mother, a popular actress, had her share of affairs before she settled down with Kurt Russell. In a recent episode of Sibling the Rivalry podcast, Oliver Hudson opened up about his struggles he faced in this period.
The actor said that he has recently completed a course that helped him learn about his childhood trauma. Hudson said he believed his trauma stemmed from his not-so-well relationship with his step-dad, Kurt Russell. But all this time, he was unaware of the fact that for most of his life, his mother Goldie Hawn was responsible for his trauma.
“She was my primary caregiver, and I was with her all of the time,” he explained while confessing, “I felt unprotected at times.”
“She would be working. She had new boyfriends that I didn’t like,” Oliver continued, though he acknowledged that his mom was just ‘living her life,” and that she was “an amazing mother.”
“This is my own perception as a child who didn’t have a dad and needed her to be there,” he clarified. “And she just wasn’t [there] sometimes and she came out far more than even my dad who wasn’t there.”

Oliver Thanks His Parents For Being “Amazing People And Amazing Grandparents”
Even though Oliver had a hard time during his childhood, he is grateful to his parents for setting great examples as grandparents before his children. Oliver’s own childhood may have been inadvertently marred with bad experiences, but his parents have made sure that their grandchildren don’t go through the same ordeal.
Kurt and Goldie, who never got married despite getting together after the separation, share a cordial bond. They also co-parented their own children and are now acing their roles as grandparents too.
During a 2021 interview with Us Weekly, Oliver even thanked the couple for being “amazing people and amazing grandparents“. Goldie and Kurt are grandparents to eight beautiful grandkids including three children of Oliver.
