The conversation around dwarfism has also been a political discourse, but thanks to Peter Dinklage, the conversation about the struggles and stereotypes that they face got mainstream, amplifying the conversation. The actor gained prominence after his menacing character, Tyrion Lannister, on the HBO show ‘Game of Thrones’.
After ‘Game of Thrones’, Peter Dinklage has landed a role in another adaptation of a book titled ‘The Thicket’. The pre-production for the film has begun for the thriller. Peter has been getting interesting and meatier parts now, but when he started in Hollywood, he was cast as a dwarf or offered the role of Leprechaun. The actor always preserved his dignity by rejecting the roles that stereotyped dwarfs, despite the financial slump.

Peter Dinklage Always Tried True To Himself As An Artist
Throughout his career, Peter Dinklage had to go through stereotypical casting due to dwarfism in Hollywood. The actor played an elf in the 2003 film ‘Elf’ until he gained prominence after appearing in Marvel and ‘X-Men’ films. However, people saw his potential in ‘Game of Thrones’, but the success was not overnight for the actor.
In a 2012 interview with The New York Times, Peter Dinklage talked about the struggles he had to go through to maintain his integrity as an artist while suffering financially. The actor said that he hates the word ‘lucky’ as “it cheapens a lot of hard work.” He was living in dire conditions while earning 50 bucks doing a play.
Peter Dinklage said, “Saying I was lucky negates the hard work I put in and spits on that guy who’s freezing his ass off back in Brooklyn. So I won’t say I’m lucky. I’m fortunate enough to find or attract very talented people. For some reason, I found them, and they found me.”

The Actor Was Taken Back When Disney Decided To Tell The Story Of Snow White And The Seven Dwarves
Disney is on a roll to make live-action versions of many of the childhood favorites of fairy tales. After ‘The Little Mermaid’, Disney is all set to tell the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, with Rachel Zegler as the lead. While the filming is still in progress, the live-action film has been embroiled in several controversies.
Apart from the casting issues and Zegler’s controversial comments, the discourse about the dwarves emerged after pictures went viral of able-bodied people playing the role of the dwarves.
While the film received scathing criticism, Peter Dinklage called the production of the film “f***int backwards.” During a podcast, Peter said, “No offense to anything, but I was a little taken aback by the fact that they were proud to cast a Latino actress as Snow White, but you’re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”
Peter Dinklage continued, “You can be progressive in one way but you’re still making that f*****g backwards story of the seven dwarves living in the cave.”
