    Selena Gomez has been struggling with depression for the longest time. The former Disney star has also been secretly battling lupus which resurrected for the first time in years.

    In her new Apple TV+ documentary ‘My Mind & Me‘, the ‘Same Old Love‘ singer talked about lupus, which is an autoimmune disease. Her condition worsened in 2020 and she experienced excruciating pain “everywhere.”

    I haven’t felt it since I was younger,” Gomez said. She went through a kidney transplant in 2017 from her friend Francia Raisa. “Now it just hurts. Like, in the morning when I wake up, I immediately start crying because it hurts, everything,” she said as she broke into tears.

    Gomez continued, “I think my past and my mistakes, that’s what drives me into depression.” The documentary takes a deep dive into the ‘Only Murders in the Building‘ star’s personal life.

    Her Lupus Worsened In 2020

    In 2020, when almost the entire world was shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic-induced lockdown, the singer’s lupus worsened. Her doctor informed her that her pain is due to an overlap of lupus and myositis.

    She was given another dose of an intravenous drug called Rituxan, which would get rid of her joint pain for a “year or so.” “I just always feel better when I have answers, but the Rituxan was really hard to do last time,” she explained.

    It’s about four hours, five hours. It’s really hard on your system at first, but it’s OK.” In the docu, she is shown undergoing treatment in a medical facility.

    At one point, she admits the physicians gave her a drug “to relax” because she “can’t stand being still.” ‘My Mind & Me‘ premiered on Apple TV+ on November 4.
