During Thursday’s episode of SiriusXM’s ‘This Life of Mine with James Corden’, David Beckham revealed how his love for the ‘Spice Girls‘ member Victoria Beckham blossomed over time though he always knew that she was the one for him.

“I really just fancied her. I did,” David said about his wife, Victoria. “I just fancied her. I didn’t know what she was like as a person. I just actually fancied her like most people did at that time, and I didn’t know who I was marrying [or] who I was going to be with for the rest of my life,” he added.

Though he agreed that it was Victoria’s beauty and sexiness that drew him to her, David emphasized that his love for her grew for many other reasons. “I didn’t realize what a strong woman she was, and that is what really attracted me to her more than anything,” he added.

I like a strong woman, and I like the fact that she works hard. I like the fact that she’s a great mum,” David said. “I like the fact that she looks after me sometimes, most of the time, and you know, we’ve created this life with four amazing children, which are the most important things in our life, so that’s why I chose Victoria… the way that she kind of runs the family,” he added.

The couple got married in a star-studded ceremony in Ireland on July 4, 1999. They had their first son, Brooklyn, on March 4, 1999. Their family further expanded with the births of Romeo, Cruz, and the youngest one Harper.

As they now share a small, loving world of their own, David Beckham also took a minute to appreciate Victoria’s caring nature as one of her best qualities. He noted that their children are “the most important and greatest thing” she’s ever given him.

He also reminisced about one of the first times he knew he would marry Victoria, which was when he watched the ‘Say You’ll Be There‘ music video.

It’s my favorite because it was the song that was on the TV when I was sat in my room with Gary Neville and it came on the tele and that was when in the short black dress,'” he said, as he later described the look as a “black catsuit.”
