Named after the soccer star, the Netflix series ‘Beckham‘ is a four-part docuseries that delves into his career journey. It features Beckham’s journey from a rising star at Manchester United FC to becoming one of the greatest athletes in the sport’s history.

Fisher Stevens, the director of the documentary, had earlier said that he himself was surprised by how talented Beckham was during the making of the documentary. Dung an interview with People in October interview, Stevens said he initially underestimated Beckham’s greatness.

Also a soccer fan, Stevens said he only fully grasped Beckham’s talent after he interviewed the soccer icon. “He wasn’t what I expected at all. He was so open. He’s like, I’m ready. I want to tell my story before someone else does. And then I started doing research, and I was like, ‘Jesus, this guy’s life is nuts. Nuts.’ I had no idea,” he said.

And then when I met with him and Victoria, I was like, oh my God, they’re going to be fun. They’re going to be good. They’re going to be fun and they’re going to be difficult and it’s going to be great,” the filmmaker continued.

Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham’s interview gave Beckham’s fans a sneak peek into how the audience is taking the docuseries. She recalled a recent interesting incident where a group of young girls slipped her a note at a restaurant. “‘We watched the documentary. You came across really well’,” it read.

In another incident, an anonymous person left a note under their car windshield apologizing on behalf of British football fans. “The other night, me and David drove to our country house and went to the local pub… someone had put a note under the windscreen wiper: ‘Dear Posh and Becks, On behalf of all the British football fans, we are sorry.’ David joked, ‘We need to go out and lap this up more often’,” Victoria said.

The singer also spoke about how she met her husband and how their love story took off. She said the two first met during a soccer match in 1997. Little did they know that they would ed up getting married two years later.

David Beckham has also spoken about his relationship on the docuseries. “That first time that I speak to her, I just fancied her,” David says in the series, speaking of the time before they began dating. Narrating her side of their love story, Victoria said, “The fact that I went to the games really was just to kind of… some would say stalk him.” However, the couple is now married with four children.
