The Netflix sci-fi fantasy show ‘Stranger Things‘ introduced Hollywood to some of the most popular and beloved child actors of our generation. Almost all of the show’s characters became popular after the show first hit the screens. As it now nears its end, the child actors have propelled as known names in the industry.
However, the path to success has not exactly been easy for them. While Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp have already fallen prey to cyberbullying and cancel culture, another child actor Gaten Matarazzo has revealed a rather eerie story about a fan’s weird obsession with him. Here’s what he said.
Gaten Matarazzo Recalls An Older Fan’s Obsession With Him
Gaten Matarazzo is popular for playing Dustin Henderson in ‘Stranger Things’. Speaking recently during his appearance on Michael Rosenbaum’s ‘Inside of You‘ podcast, he revealed a disturbing fan interaction with a woman fan much older than him.
Matarazzo, who is now 21 years old, recalled an incident from his early teen years where a middle-aged woman in her 40s was inappropriately obsessed with him. “This woman in her 40s said straight up, she goes, ‘I’ve had a crush on you since you were 13,’ and I was like, ‘That’s upsetting!’” Matarazzo recalled.
He said he initially tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, thinking she meant he was cute in a non-romantic way. But she persisted, and the situation got further complicated. He also revealed that the presence of the woman’s daughter with her made it even more bizarre.
The daughter also found her mother’s behavior disturbing. “Her daughter was with her. And her daughter goes, ‘Mom, what the f—?’” he said. “I swear to God, this girl must have been like 13, and she goes, ‘Mom, what the f—?’” he added.

Gaten Matarazzo Opens Up About His Career Aspirations
Other than this particular incident, Gaten Matarazzo also mentioned experiencing inappropriate physical contact from fans, including some disturbing butt grabs. Rosenbaum, who also shared similar experiences of inappropriate touching from fans, also got involved in this part of the conversation.
Other than discussing his unsettling encounters with fans, Matarazzo also opened up about his future career aspirations. He asserted that he wishes to take on unique and challenging roles that differ from his work on ‘Stranger Things’.
“I want to do things where I look and I say, ‘No one’s ever going to make anything like this again,’” he said. He also expressed his reluctance to take on roles that feel too similar to what he has already done. His fans can next see him in the upcoming and final season of ‘Stranger Things‘.
