In 1993, Robert Downey Jr. was nominated for his phenomenal role in ‘Chaplin‘ where he played the role of the iconic Charlie Chaplin. The film ended up being one of his most successful and famous films and gained prominence in cinematic history and applause from everyone. This ended up becoming the film that gave him his first Oscar nomination.

However, Downey Jr. lost the award to Al Pacino’s portrayal in ‘Scent Of A Woman‘ and looking back, Robert thinks it’s good that he didn’t win. He told The View, “I was young and crazy.” If he had won, Downey said, it “would have put me under the impression that I was on the right track.”

After that, Downey was nominated for one more Oscar for his role in ‘Tropic Thunder‘ in 2009, which he lost again. Fans are now hopeful that 2024 might be the year he finally bags an Academy Award.
