Rowling’s reputation has taken a beating ever since her transphobic tweets surfaced back in 2020. Several celebs including ‘Harry Potter‘ actors have criticized her views. She was also nowhere to been in last year’s HBO reunion special.

On the contrary, Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to have more films in the franchise if the British author agrees. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CEO David Zaslav wants to exploit the company’s franchises.

At an investor’s call on Thursday, Zaslav said: “We’re going to focus on franchises. We haven’t had a Superman movie in 13 years. We haven’t done a Harry Potter in 15 years.”

He added, “The DC movies and the Harry Potter movies provided a lot of the profits for Warner Bros. … over the past 25 years.” Zaslav continued, “If we can do something with J.K. on Harry Potter going forward.”

Radcliffe was one of the first celebrities to speak out against Rowling’s views against the transgender community. He recently talked about speaking out against her in an open letter

The actor had proclaimed, “transgender women are women.” “The reason I felt very, very much as though I needed to say something when I did was because, particularly since finishing ‘Potter,’ I’ve met so many queer and trans kids and young people who had a huge amount of identification with Potter on that,” Radcliffe said.

He continued, “And so seeing them hurt on that day I was like, I wanted them to know that not everybody in the franchise felt that way. And that was really important.”
