The 33-year-old actress, Elizabeth Olsen has been a part of the Marvel universe since 2015. She made her debut in the franchise through the role of Wanda Maximoff/ Scarlet Witch in the movie ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘. Elizabeth Olsen appeared in five other ‘Avengers‘ films and had her miniseries ‘WandaVision‘ in 2021.
Her recent appearance was in the movie ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness‘ in a more negative light. Thus Olsen is one of the actors who is much acquainted with the Marvel universe. But her familiarity with the Marvel Cinematic Universe has not reduced her awkwardness in playing the role of a witch. Elizabeth Olsen opens up about her embarrassment while making the ‘Marvel‘ movies.
What Is Elizabeth Olsen Embarrassed About?
“There’s a lot of silly stuff,” said the superhero actress when asked about doing the role of Scarlet Witch. It has been more than six years and still, Olsen finds it awkward doing certain scenes. “It’s very embarrassing shooting those kinds of things, because, like, the world depends on you doing it,” said the actor specifically referring to the scene of the devastating death of Vision (Paul Bettany) in 2018’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘. Olsen found it comfortable while acting with Paul Bettany under the Russo brother’s guidance. “At that point, Paul and I really had each other’s back,” the actor added.
“Once it was over, it was a huge amount of relief. And I just remember being giggly the rest of the day, while Josh Brolin (Thanos) had his helmet on. And I don’t know. These movies are very silly, but you have to act your ass off for them to work,” the actor shared her relief when completing the shot. Olsen also shares the trouble the actor faces while starring in a superhero role.

“I’m Doing This In Public”: Olsen Remarks
Elizabeth Olsen takes her role seriously, no less than any other actor. The actor went on to explain her embarrassment, “Because you’re like – Ugh, I’m doing this in public. But you have one hand out that’s stopping something with energy. And then you’ve got another hand that’s extracting this fake thing from this dotted face. And it’s painful and emotional.” The ‘Oldboy‘ actor added that the silliness of the shooting is what makes the editing and special effects much more impressive. Thus appreciating the crew behind the scenes.
“I always wish that one day they just release a version of the film without any special effects. Because then you understand how ridiculous it feels. And how spectacular the work is that goes into making these,” she praised the crew again for making the work believable on screen.
Whatever her excuses are, the actress is not gonna give up her role in MCU anytime soon. “I don’t think any of these characters are ever really gone. Especially when you introduce the Multiverse to multiply all of our bodies and different other universes,” Olsen added in her interview with Variety. With a villain arc in the latest Doctor Strange movie, it can be expected that she would now have more appearances to showcase her redemption back to a hero.
