Liza Minnelli announced via PEOPLE that she has plans to release a memoir in spring 2026. Minnelli already has a documentary to her name titled ‘Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story’. Coming from a family of talented actresses, singers and directors, Liza Minnelli has dominated the entertainment industry for quite some time now. After winning several prestigious awards, Minnelli has announced that she has decided to finally write her memoir after receiving suggestions and requests for the same by many over the years.
Minnelli told PEOPLE that she felt “a series of unfortunate events” had portrayed her and her family in an inaccurate light — which is also one of the reasons that propelled her towards the decision of writing a memoir.
“Since I was old enough to put pencil to paper, people asked me to write books about my career,” Minnelli said in a statement. “‘Absolutely not! ‘Tell it when I’m gone!’ Was my philosophy.” However, Minnelli added that there are many catalysts that ultimately led to her decision.

Though there are many catalysts that pushed her to start working on her memoir, Liza Minnelli revealed some of them during the recent interview. Liza Minnelli named the catalysts as “a sabotaged appearance at the Oscars,“ “a film with twisted half-truths,” and “a recent miniseries that just didn’t get it right…All made by people who didn’t know my family, and don’t really know me.”
‘The Act’ star further said, “Finally, I was mad as hell!” Minnelli continued, “Over dinner one night, I decided, it’s my own damn story…I’m gonna share it with you because of all the love you’ve given me.”
“This tome has a unique place in history. Most of you don’t know how far back we go. The Minnellis have been in show business for literally hundreds of years!” Minnelli added. Here’s looking forward to her memoir which is set to be released in the Spring of 2026.
