James Cameron Sets New Record
With his latest film, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ entering the $2 billion club, James Cameron becomes the only director to have three movies that earned over $2 billion. Along with the ‘Avatar‘ sequel, it is the original ‘Avatar’ and ‘Titanic’. There’s even more to this record. These are the only feature films that Cameron has directed since 1997, making the movies consecutive $2 billion earners for the filmmaker.
Following him are the Russo brothers. Their Marvel movies, ‘Infinity War‘ and ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ are both in the $2 billion club. The latest Avatar movie took only 37 days to reach $2 billion. Whereas it was 47 days for its 2009 prequel and 5000 days for Titanic to earn billions.
The first ‘Avatar‘ movie is the number one highest-grosser of all time, with $2.923 billion on a $237 million budget. The Canadian director also has the third, fourth, and fifth installments of the movie series on the waitlist. It is expected that these sequels will also break records for the director.

Zoe Saldaña Breaks Her Own Record
It’s not only the filmmaker but the lead actress of the movie has also broken her own record. Zoe Saldaña had a record of starring in the most $2 billion movies. Earlier it was three and now it has become four. The actress appeared as Neytiri in Avatar and Avatar 2. In addition, she also acted as Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
However, the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actress doesn’t hold the record for being the actor with the highest box office collection. The record goes to one of her Avengers costars, Samuel L. Jackson, who has accumulated about $27 billion at the worldwide box office.
