Another day, another Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck headline. Since the couple announced their separation, there have been several headlines revolving around it. Their break up also had a sizeable effect on both of their careers.
Affleck stepped out from the spotlight for a very long time and Lopez also considered going that same route. She wanted to leave her career as she felt lost during all of this.
Jennifer Lopez Reveals She Felt Like Moving Away From Music
After all the turmoil going on in her life during the breakup, Jennifer Lopez decided to take a permanent break from her well-built music career. During an interview with NPR, the singer said, “I think after, like, when the tabloids started and Ben and I were on the tabloids and then we broke up and that fell apart“.
The singer continued, “And then I was trying to kind of, like, get my career back to get – you know, like, there was a time when everything just felt like it was – I was like maybe I just shouldn’t do this anymore, maybe I should just stop singing and stop making movies and do something else. And you just – you get to those crossroads in your life.”
Jennifer was trying to follow in the footsteps of Ben. He had several failed movies, and given that his both personal and professional life were going downhill, he decided to go on a hiatus from Hollywood.
During a 2012 interview with GQ, the actor said, “I think I just ran away. You can only handle so much. I moved for a while to this place in Georgia that I have, and was able to get away, by and large, from stuff. Come up with a plan for how to do something with my life that doesn’t put me in the crosshairs of this sort of thing.”

Penelope Cruz Helped Jennifer Lopez To Stay In The Industry
Jennifer Lopez’s drowning self was held by Penélope Crus for good. She was the one who convinced her to stay in the industry.
During the same interview, Jennifer remembered, “Yeah, we were on a plane together, and we started talking, and I was just like, I just don’t know. And she was like, you are crazy. You have to – no, Jennifer, we all look at you, and we – and I was like, wow. And it meant a lot to me.”
She continued, “And there was a few people like that over time who, you know, just – they say things to you in passing, and it affects you so much.”
Both Affleck and Lopez have tried to stay strong in the relationship. Back in 2000, negative publicity was surrounding them, but they were together. But they couldn’t keep their strong for long. The negative publicity got to their relationship and it ruined the goodwill they had hence their separation.
