Recently, John Cena talked about his personal views on marriage and having children. On the Club Shay Shay podcast, he revisited his early relationship with his wife and admitted that having kids or not was an “uncomfortable” conversation.

He believes these are the critical decisions that one has to make during the first and second dates. “I opened with a few uncomfortable conversations,” Cena shared. He and his partner Shay talked about all their life goals earlier in their relationship which created a strong foundation for their marriage.

He thinks that he can’t ever fully commit to kids. “I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be ready, to invest the time it needs to be a great parent. I want to live life,” Cena added. He believes that his current life choices and dreams don’t match up with being a father and he “doesn’t want them.”

Cena previously shared on The Drew Barrymore Show that he couldn’t have been a great father. “You have to have passion for it. You have to have fuel for it,” he said comparing the role of being a parent to other professions which require devotion.

He continued that he has got the best partner in the world to support him with his dreams and aspirations. Being the best father demands a lot of work and having nice family relations with your loved ones is pivotal for him, hence it was a difficult job he refused to undertake in his life.

Even though Cena doesn’t plan on being a father, he does have something in his life that fulfills the desire to leave something meaningful behind. He works with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants the wishes of ill children. It is his foundation that makes him happy and keeps him connected with kids. He added, “I love that joy and I love that connection and that’s where I’m at right now.”
