‘Friends‘ has always kept its audience in awe with its numerous amount of guest appearances on the show. Getting ‘Notting Hill‘ actor Julia Roberts on board was one of its biggest steals. According to the creators, getting Roberts on the show wasn’t without its own set of complications. Other guest appearances on the show included Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Reese Witherspoon, Winona Ryder, and more.
Matthew Perry played a huge role in bringing the ‘Money Monster‘ actor to the show. They had great chemistry since day one, both on and off-screen. In fact, Perry himself asked Roberts to appear on the show. And the show creators and fans are forever grateful for that.

Julia Roberts Agreed To Be On ‘Friends’ Only If Matthew Perry Wrote Her A Paper On Quantum Physics
Julia Roberts cameoed on ‘Friends‘ in its second season with the episode “The One After The Superbowl.” According to the creators, getting Roberts on the show was not easy. When Matthew Perry asked her to be a part, Roberts replied that she would, only if Perry wrote her a paper on quantum physics. As mentioned by co-creator Bright, the next thing they knew, Mathew had written her a paper and faxed it to Roberts the very next day.
In co-creator Marta Kauffman’s words “Getting Julia Roberts was incredibly exciting. We knew she would have the right touch for it. And when she said yes, it was pretty awesome.” In the episode, Roberts played the role of Susie Moss, an ex-classmate of Chandler’s.
When they were in the fourth grade, Chandler happened to humiliate her by lifting up her skirt in front of the whole class. The episode further leads up to Chandler and Susie dating. However, her only motive behind this was to take revenge from Chandler. Susie, aka Roberts, ends up paying him back in the same way and getting her revenge by the end of the episode.

The Two Actors Dated For A Year After ‘Friends’
Matthew Perry and Julia Roberts’ chemistry was not limited to just on-screen romance. One of the former ‘Friends‘ writer named Astrof recalls Julia being very charmed by Chandler’s humor. And he remembers himself going “I wrote every one of those lines!”
Apparently, there was already a lot of flirting between Matthew and Julia over fax even before being on the show. As told by co-creators, both the actors hit it off pretty quickly from day one and they eventually ended up dating for a year after.
